About GameStorageScore

GameStorageScore compares games by download size, critic score and playtime to give a Storage Score™ — and where a physical edition exists, we also calculate a Physical Score and a digital vs. physical buying recommendation that weighs mostly the game's real size (the more GB, the more physical pays off), along with quality and the digital price.

Why physical media matters to us

We're not saying physical is always the better choice — sometimes digital is cheaper or the only option, and that's what each game's recommendation is for. But when a physical option exists, we think it's worth knowing about before deciding.

For now, this digital/physical comparison only works for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 games: Nintendo's eShop publishes whether a game has a physical edition, but the Xbox, PlayStation and Steam stores don't — so we can't calculate it there yet.
